A/N: I made a few changes to this story to make it flow better.
The bright lights in the back stage dressing room at the Staples Center illuminated Adam's hair causing the glitter in it to sparkle like diamonds on display in a jewelry store. Adam knew the president and his family where going to be watching his performance so he decided to tone down his look. Adam decided on a white, silk, dress shirt complimented by a black, silk, low cut v-neck vest, his traditional black gloves, black dress pants and his leopard skin boots. He put on his favorite necklace; a glass peace sign that was attached to a hemp string made in his favorite colors that Tommy got him for his 29th birthday.
However, despite looking gorgeous on the outside on the inside Adam could feel his stomach twisting in knots. He tried to ignore it but he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was going to happen. He wanted to tell someone but he knew how much this concert meant to his fans, the president included and he didn’t want to let them down because of a “gut feeling” He took a deep breath and applied his black eye liner making sure to apply just enough to make his eyes stand out.
After giving himself a once over in the mirror to make sure everything was perfect he heard a knock on the door and then a creek as it opened and Tommy walked into the room. Adam knew that despite his best effort to hide it Tommy had picked up on the fact that he wasn’t just nervous he was scared. He could see the concern in Tommy’s expressive brown eyes and pushed passed him but Tommy grabbed his wrist with surprising strength.
"What's wrong Adam?" Tommy asked, concerned.
"Nothing, I guess I'm just nervous about performing in front of the president for the first time." Adam said evasively.
"Adam." Tommy warned.
"Honestly Tommy, I don't know it's probably nothing so let's just get going or we're going to be late." Adam said sounding frustrated.
Tommy shook his head knowing that he wasn't going to get anymore out of Adam and trying would just result in an argument which neither one of them wanted. Tommy placed his hand on Adam’s shoulder knowing that the singer would take it for what it was a wordless gesture of support. Even though their friendship was rocky at best due to Tommy spending most of his time with his new girlfriend they still cared for each other. Tommy knew not to push Adam so he bit back his protest and followed his friend from the dressing room to the stage.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Tommy, look out!" Adam yelled, panicked.
Adam saw the glint of the knife against the stage lights and tackled Tommy, shielding him with his body. The only thought that permeated his adrenaline enveloped mind was Tommy’s family. He could hear himself scream as pain shot through his body causing every muscle in his body to contract painfully tight. The noise of the terrified and screaming fans faded into oblivion as his vision became blurry with tears and everything seemed to slow down. Slowly his vision started to become blurry and the only thing he could hear was the erratic beating of his own heart in his ears. He could feel thick bloody saliva running down the sides of his mouth as he struggled to breathe. He could feel Tommy roll him over onto his back and winced as another excruciating jolt of pain shot through his body. As the seconds ticked by into minutes Adam felt a cold chill sinking its claws into him and it became harder and harder to keep his eyes open.
Despite the overwhelming desire to close his eyes and succumb he reached up and squeezed Tommy's arm to let his guilt ridden friend know he was still alive. He didn't know what hurt worse the knife sticking out of his side or the look of heartbreaking guilt in his friend's eyes as he sat there in a pool of blood, tears falling from those beautiful brown eyes.
"I-I love you."
Tommy felt his heart shatter into thousands of tiny shards as Adam whispered those words to him. He could feel Adam’s grip loosening and watched as his head fell to the side and his hand hit the stage with a dull thud.
“Adam!" Tommy yelled as he shook his friend's lifeless body.
